Centre Funds 12 Sovereign Foundation Model Projects — BharatGen ₹1,058 Cr
MeitY allocates funding to 12 organizations to develop indigenous foundation models under IndiaAI Mission. BharatGen (IIT Bombay-led consortium) receives ₹1,058.52 crore — 4x the next highest allocation. Other recipients include Sarvam AI, Soket AI, Gnani AI, and others. BharatGen launches Param2-17B MoE multilingual model trained across all 22 scheduled Indian languages.
