OpenAI Pulls Back from Stargate Norway; Microsoft Takes Capacity

OpenAI abandoned plans to rent compute capacity directly from Nscale Stargate Norway data center in Narvik. Microsoft will take up the spare capacity instead. The 230MW facility with 100K GPU target continues under Nscale-Aker 50/50 JV, powered by renewable hydropower.

OpenAI exits Stargate Norway; Microsoft takes 30K Vera Rubin GPUs

OpenAI failed to conclude an offtake deal with Nscale at Narvik and pulled out of Stargate Norway. Microsoft stepped in, contracting 30,000 Nvidia Vera Rubin GPUs at the 230MW facility. OpenAI cut infrastructure spending target from $1.4T to ~$600B by 2030. Second Stargate site Microsoft absorbed in three weeks.
