African Union endorsed Continental AI Strategy July 2024; Africa Declaration on AI (Kigali Global AI Summit) committed all 55 AU member states to AI sovereignty principles + proposed $60B Africa AI Fund.

African Development Bank and UNDP launched AI 10 Billion Initiative at Nairobi AI Forum (Feb 9-10 2026). Amini, Foxconn, and Bull (Atos) launched a strategic partnership to accelerate sovereign AI infrastructure deployment across Africa and the Global South. The partnership provides governments, telecom operators, financial institutions and energy companies with access to industrial-grade AI data centre infrastructure that can be locally acquired, deployed and operated.
